Foreword
Montenegro is a small but multicultural country. There has always been a crossroads of civilizations, a mix of cultures. Rome/Byzantium, Byzantium/Venice, Ottomans/Venice. The empires changed, but the border of the empires remained, here on the territory of modern Montenegro. As we travel along the coast to the south of Montenegro, we will see not only cultural but also natural changes.
We start at 9:00 a.m. and stop at the exclusive panorama of the island of St. Stephen - the calling card of Montenegro.
We hike along the cliffs of the Adriatic through the pine forest. We let ourselves admire the purest water of this sea, splashing on the rocky lagoons.
We will visit the embankment of the city of Bar, we will see the palace of the Montenegrin King Nikola, we will look into the second largest temple in Montenegro named after the revered St. Joann Vladimir. I will tell you about the worship mountain Rumia (1580 m), which dominates the city, I will show this mountain and reveal the secret of the temple on its top... If you wish, you can climb the ruins of Old Bar - “Montenegrin Pompeii”. . The city was destroyed at the end of the 19th century. If the ruins surrounded by fortress walls don't appeal to you, then let's just take a photo break with a view of the Old Bar. It is located 5 kilometers from the coast.
After the town of Bar we continue our way towards ancient Olcinium, modern Ulcinj. To begin, we visit the huge sandy beach “Velika Plazha”, which stretches for 12 km along the coast. I offer you lunch on the banks of the mouth of the Bojana River, in a cozy fish restaurant on stilts or already in the old town of Ulcinj.
After a walk and, if you wish, your one-hour swim on the “Big Beach”, we drive towards Old Ulcinj. I tell pirate legends, stories of the famous prisoners of this impregnable pirate nest.
After visiting the old town of Ulcinj, we drive to the unique "Olive Valley", where up to 10,000 olive trees grow. The air is permeated with an oily smell.
The bizarre trunks of thousand-year-old trees have been mangled for centuries.
A photo break between these fabulous trees will be our final chord.
We return to your hotel around 6 p.m.
