Foreword

The entire Crnojevića River is a huge place of power. In addition to the fact that the journey through them becomes a picturesque fairy tale, we also offer you some hidden places where you can be alone with yourself. You will see a landscape that has not changed for thousands of years.

We have included a one-hour boat trip on Lake Skadar in this tour,

because we believe that it is impossible to fully immerse yourself in the wonderful energy of these places only through the viewpoints. We take a boat ride among the water lilies, the picturesque shores of the reserve. Storks and herons will fly over our heads, and the warm wind will fill our noses and mouths with the freshest air. If desired, we can stop for a swim from a boat or from the shore.

There is also a large beach in the remote river village of Dodoshi, so don't forget the swimming trunks, they will come in handy on this excursion.

We will have lunch in a quiet and cozy fishing village of Karuch in a private house with a picturesque terrace. The fisherman's wife will cook for us what she cooks every day for her husband and relatives. Depending on the catch we can order carp, eel, trout, other fish with boiled or pickled potatoes. Homemade bread, home-made wine or home-made juice are served at the table. Delicious! And the prices here cannot be compared with Budva at all. By the way, pelicans began to appear more and more often in Karucha. But unfortunately that is not guaranteed.

Our path continues in Zabljak Crnojević to its old and beautiful fortress. The history of Zabljak Fortress is long. The hill on which it is located is unique, rising proudly over the upper reaches of Lake Skadar. It is believed that the rulers of the ancient Slavic Dukla founded the fortress. The fortress was an important outpost in the fight against the Ottomans. Yet the forces were unequal, and in 1478 Zabljak was captured and burned by the Turks. The fortress was under Ottoman rule until the second half of the 19th century. The Turks fortified their walls, preserved buildings, the Church of St. George was converted into a mosque. Fortunately, the Turks peacefully returned the fortress to independent Montenegro in 1878, and it was perfectly preserved during the peaceful transfer. The view from there is simply breathtaking..
