  • The Biogradska Gora National Park in northeastern Montenegro was founded in 1952 and lies between the valleys of the Tara and Lim rivers. The Biogradska Gora nature reserve lies in the heart of the Bjelašica Mountains between alpine meadows and snow-capped peaks. Lake Biogradska is the most famous among the five lakes of Biogradska Gora National Park.

The Biogradska Gora National Park is the furthest separated from the sea and the smallest in terms of area (54 km²) among the national parks of Montenegro. The park was founded together with three other national parks in Montenegro in 1952, but received protected status before all others - in 1878 on behalf of King Nikola. This means it is actually the oldest national park in the country. Biogdarska Gora lies between the valleys of the Tara and Lim rivers in the center of the Bjelašica Mountains between alpine meadows and snow-capped peaks. There are many forests, mountain streams and lakes. The highest point is Chrna Glava (2139 m).

Lake Biogradsko is the most famous among the five lakes in the national park. It is located at an altitude of 1085 meters above sea level and has a depth of 12 meters. An ancient relict forest grows on the territory of the park, which is home to more than 2,000 species of plants (including 85 species of trees) and about 200 birds. Forests cover more than 75% of the park. Of the natural attractions of the park - the Orthodox Monastery of Moraca (13th century), famous for the abundance of ancient frescoes and icons. In Biogradska Gora there are also marked hiking trails for short walks of one day and long hikes of two or more days. You can go boating and fishing on Lake Biogradsko.
